Don't Risk Going to Court Alone

If you've been arrested for DUI in Alabama then you have some serious choices to make, starting with whether or not to hire a lawyer… and which one to hire.

It is without a doubt in your best interest to have a lawyer that is experienced in DUI defense in your corner. Even if this is the very first time you've ever been charged with DUI; jail time, expensive fines and the loss of your driver's license are very real possibilities in the event you either plead guilty or you are found guilty at trial. Given the seriousness of the situation, the wise and prudent thing to do is retain competent legal counsel to assist you. Now is NOT the time to try and “wing it” alone. Don't risk it.

Experience Matters

Attorney Tom Evans has been helping people charged with DUI in the State of Alabama for nearly 20 years. From Mobile to Huntsville and all courts in between - chances are pretty good that Tom has already been to the exact court that you will have to attend. While you might be worried, confused, and overwhelmed by the situation, you can rest assured that Tom isn't. Over the years he's seen and dealt with just about every conceivable set of circumstances one can imagine when representing someone charged with DUI.

Your Case is Special

There is no “cookie-cutter” approach to successful DUI defense work. Every person's DUI case is unique; and, you need an experienced DUI defense attorney who knows what to look for and how to look for it. Here's just a few of the many factors that have to be taken into consideration when formulating a strategy to defend a person charged with DUI:

  1. Do you have any prior convictions for DUI, and if so, how many? - when and where?
  2. Did you perform any Field Sobriety Tests (FSTs), and if so, which ones?
  3. Did you consent to a breath test at the jail?
  4. Did you consent to a blood test?
  5. Were you alone or were there other passengers with you at the time?
  1. Did you receive any additional tickets / charged with anything else?
  2. Why were you pulled over in the first place?
  3. Were you involved in a wreck, and if so, did it involve another vehicle? Was anybody injured?
  4. Which type of law enforcement officer(s) did you deal with? State Troopers, County Deputy, or Municipal police?
  5. Where were you arrested for DUI - What county / city?

Dedication

Tom's goal is to work towards getting you the best result possible given the circumstances involved in your case - and he'll work tirelessly to make sure that happens.

WARNING - Even a first-time DUI charge is a serious matter, with penalty ranges of:

  1. Jail up to 1 year (possible probation)
  2. Minimum Fine of $600 to $2,100 + court costs
  3. 90 day driver's license suspension (or) ignition interlock device for 90 days

Penalties could be even worse if certain other circumstances are involved, such as:

Breath test with a result of 0.15 or higher.

Refusing to submit to a blood alcohol concentration test.

If a child under age 14 was a passenger at the time of the offense.

There was a wreck and someone other than the driver was injured.

As you might imagine, the punishment ranges become harsher if you are facing a 2nd or 3rd DUI, with mandatory jail time to be imposed for both in the event you either plead guilty or you are found to be guilty at trial. While 1st, 2nd and 3rd DUI charges are misdemeanors, a 4th DUI is a Class C Felony.

Testimonials from Clients

I would highly recommend Tom. Most attorneys are notorious for being non responsive and move slower than you want. Not Tom. Anytime I had a question all I had to do is send a quick text or email and he responded in a timely manner. He also worked fast and was able to deliver my desired outcome much faster than I expected. Fair price and great value. 5 stars.
